Mainfreight

Special People, Special Company

Mainfreight started on a handshake with a second-hand J1 Bedford truck named Moody Blue and $2700 in capital. From here, we have grown to be not only one of New Zealand’s most influential companies but also a hugely successful global organisation with approximately 6000 team members in more than 240 branches in over 20 countries.

As a global logistics provider, Mainfreight is not just a trucking company, we o er managed warehousing, as well as international and domestic freight forwarding. This means that there are a large variety of career opportunities within the Mainfreight group.

Our Graduate Programme is all about being a little bit different, we’re not your typical grad programme! From the outset our grads start on the shop floor learning the ins and outs of the global supply chain business.

This could include loading a rail unit to Christchurch, checking freight, sweeping or picking and packing a customer’s order in one of our warehouses or even cutting documents for the import of medical supplies.

It’s certainly not a glamorous start but it is fundamental to our company culture. From here there is a multitude of roles grads can move into from operations to exporting, sales, technology, supply chain and plenty more.

“Special people, special company” could not be a truer Mainfreight statement. Our unique family-centric culture has moulded the way we do business and all the decisions we make ensure that we will stick around for another 100 years cementing our 100 year vision.

We promote from within, this means that we grow and develop our own people so that they know how and why we operate the way that we do. We also want them to build those family connections both in the operations and in the office hence why we start our graduates on the shop floor.
